I placed my hand into the flowing stream
I watched the water twist and turn
– bubble between my fingers and over my palm
I placed my hand in the black, brown earth
I felt its cool embrace surrounding, holding tight
– damp and gritty, pure, against my fingertips
I placed my hand into the warmth of the fire
I heard the crackle and pop of the flame
– and the whispered sigh of all the world
